Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI)
First-time Field Instructors will benefit from the Seminar In Field Instruction (SIFI). The Seminar In Field Instruction is designed to be taken concurrently with your first student’s field placement. SIFI provides essential field instruction knowledge, support for field instruction skill set development, and a forum for the mutual exchange of ideas and concerns related to field teaching.
The Seminar is required and must be taken concurrently with your first student’s field placement. It is a 14-hour seminar offered in a variety of formats and time slots. See below for more information.

You may take the course through the UConn SSW STEP program or at one of the participating New York or New England universities.

University of Connecticut School of Social Work has a reciprocal SIFI arrangement with various New York and New England schools of Social Work.
