Welcome to the University of Connecticut School of Social Work.
Here your choices abound: You may pursue an MSW through a wide variety of flexible study plans including the Advanced Standing option; complete your PhD; or take continuing education classes. Our MSW program is methods-based. This unique difference allows students to choose an area of concentration, engage in field learning, and even select a focused area of study. PhD students can prepare for leadership roles by developing advanced research and critical thinking skills in a supportive scholarship community.
Our outstanding Master of Social Work program has a diverse faculty and student body and many opportunities for learning in urban, rural and international contexts. Located in a research intensive university, the school builds knowledge to improve social work practice, while maintaining a strong public service mission. Situated on the University of Connecticut Greater Hartford campus in West Hartford, the School of Social Work combines the convenience of easy access to a major urban center, ethnically and economically diverse populations, hundreds of human service agencies, and state government offices.
MSW education has been our signature program since 1946 with over 6800 alumni. We also provide extensive non-degree programs and a PhD in Social Work. The school has a clear and strong commitment to promoting social and economic justice and improving well-being for the citizens of the state of Connecticut, as well as individuals, families and communities nationally and internationally. Perhaps you will find that the University of Connecticut School of Social Work is the ideal environment to pursue your intellectual curiosity and commitment to the profession of social work.
