for Political Social Work

The Nancy A. Humphreys Institute for Political Social Work works to increase the political participation and power of social workers and the communities they serve. The Institute leads the national "Voting is Social Work" Campaign, and trains social workers and students to lead in politics through its Campaign School for Social Workers.

Associate Professor Nathanael Okpych co-authored a paper that found about 30% of transition-age youth in foster care were food insecure at ages 19, 21, and 23. The paper, "Examining prevalence and predictors of food insecurity for transition-age youth transitioning out of foster care," was published in the Journal of Public Child Welfare.
