Building Bridges Peer Partner Application

University of Connecticut School of Social Work

Peer Partner Application

Congratulations on your acceptance and welcome to the UConn School of Social Work. Building Bridges is an initiative brought to you by the SSW Student Services Office in collaboration with the Student Organization. Its aim is to link incoming students (peer partners) with ambassadors (returning students) to foster a supportive relationship in order to help ease their transition into the UConn School of Social Work program.

Incoming students will be paired one-on-one with ambassadors who are committed to the school and recognize the value of giving back to the community. The role of the ambassador is to act as a support and serve as an additional resource to help balance the demands of school, field placement, family and other obligations. The role of the student ambassador is not to replace the incoming student’s faculty advisor.

Application Process

  • The Building Bridges program is available on a first-come-first-serve basis, so don't wait to submit your application!
  • The two part application, described below, must be completed no later than May 24, 2013:
  • Applicants will be notified via email upon receipt of their completed application.

If you have any questions about the process or application, please contact Elissa Schibley at Elissa.Schibley@UConn.edu.
