The University of Connecticut requires all full time students to maintain insurance coverage under a family plan, individual plan or the University sponsored Student Health Plan. A full time student is defined as an undergraduate student enrolled for 12 or more credits or a graduate student enrolled for 9 or more credits. The following certificate/career programs are exempt from automatic enrollment, but may be eligible to voluntarily enroll:
If a student wants to formally decline (waive) the Aetna Student Health plan an online waiver must be completed. The online waiver is accessed through the student administration (PeopleSoft) system at www.studentadmin.uconn.edu. A seven digit PeopleSoft ID number and unique password is needed to access the system. The only acceptable form of notification to decline the coverage is the online waiver. Failure to complete the online waiver prior to 9/15/10 will result in automatic enrollment and a charge of $1,598.00 being placed on the student fee bill.

All non-immigrant international students will be required, at the time of admission, to show evidence of adequate insurance coverage for basic medical, major medical, and repatriation expenses. All questions regarding compliance should be directed to the Office of Admission and Financial Aid.
