Non-Degree/Credit Extension Program (formerly STEP)

If you’re ready to move ahead with your career, but not ready to return to school full-time, the Non-Degree/Credit Extension program is for you. The Non-Degree/Credit Extension program enables students to register for graduate social work courses on a non-matriculating basis. The Program is ideal for:
- Potential applicants to the School who wish to enroll in classes before they are admitted.
- Human service professionals who are interested in the content of a particular course for their own career development.
- Those making a career decision who want to enroll in social work courses to help them make an informed choice.
Students can select from a wide array of classes offered at the School of Social Work located at the Greater Hartford Campus in West Hartford.
Individuals who have earned a minimum of a bachelor’s degree may enroll in classes on a non-matriculating basis. Students may take courses during the Fall, Spring, Summer and Winter Intersession. A maximum of 6 credits may be taken each semester not to exceed a total of 14 credits while in the Non-Degree/Credit Extension Program. Credits earned through the program may be applied toward the MSW degree requirements although enrollment in Non-Degree/Credit Extension courses does not guarantee admission to the degree program.
