For decades, the field of social work has recognized the need for providing future clinicians with the necessary training to promote cultural awareness and competence. This is a separate skill set within itself that must be taught to all practicing social workers in order to ensure that culturally sensitive interventions are considered when necessary. Given the state of affairs across the nation, it is necessary for all helping professionals to embark in the quest to becoming culturally competent and choose a life-long approach in achieving cultural humility.
Participants will be able to:
- Define culture competence & cultural humility
- Identify 3 methods for becoming culturally competent
- Identify culturally sensitive behavioral interventions
