We are being tested in ways unimaginable before the onset of this global crisis. This extraordinary time for social workers and their clients presents both barriers to practice and opportunities for growth, for both clients and social workers. We might ask — what’s the best way to navigate the next period, both personally and professionally? How can social workers take advantage of what these times offer for their own growth and how can that enrich their practice with clients?

This webinar will briefly address the impact of the present crisis and examine the opportunities presented by it. Issues addressed include:

  • Identifying opportunities for growth
  • how to live with uncertainty
  • self-care and the barriers to this especially for social workers
  • how to help clients manage their grief
  • how to harness the restorative nature of grief

Participants will:

  1. have the opportunity to reflect on and practice discovering opportunities in a crisis
  2. identify specific personal barriers to self-care
  3. explore the restorative nature of grief and how to utilize this with clients
